I would now like to introduce you to the Tiralizade Hasan Bey Mansion, a place where we can closely experience the historical fabric of Piraziz. Located in the Eren Neighborhood, this mansion was built between 1906 and 1908—during the final era of the Ottoman Empire—and is recognized as one of Piraziz’s oldest historical structures. It is also noted for having played a pivotal role in the district's development, alongside the local pier and mosque.
Constructed from cut stone with two stories rising above a basement, the mansion features a spacious courtyard. Viewed from the outside, the façade—characterized by four rows of windows and a balcony supported by stone columns—reflects the distinctive traits of traditional Giresun houses. Furthermore, Baroque and Rococo-style ornamentation lends the structure a more ornate appearance, setting it apart from other traditional mansions in the region. The stone-framed windows, corner and floor moldings, eaves, and entrance section are particularly striking from an architectural standpoint.
Access to the mansion is provided by a C-shaped staircase featuring Baroque ornamentation. Baroque motifs also adorn the double-leaf iron entrance gate, while a balcony supported by two fluted columns sits above the entrance. Inside, the presence of the Tiralizade family’s original furnishings and a private family library enhances the mansion's value—not only architecturally but also culturally.
Registered and placed under protection in 1990, the Tiralizade Hasan Bey Mansion stands out today as a significant destination for civil architecture and cultural tourism, offering insight into Piraziz’s past social life and mansion culture. Here, one can observe firsthand how the local architectural style of the Black Sea region blends with the Baroque and Rococo influences of the Ottoman era.
