About the Event
The play depicts the Trojan War, a conflict from Greek mythology that took place in the 12th or 13th century BC. While the production draws its inspiration from the stories found in Homer’s *Iliad* and *Odyssey*, its primary focus is the nature of war itself and the dark realities underlying it. It employs dark humor to portray how those intent on waging war can always find a pretext—and are willing to sacrifice everything for that cause. Throughout history, human insatiability, discontent, and frailty have been the root causes of numerous catastrophes. The play reveals the true motives of the dominant powers behind the conflict, which was ostensibly triggered by the abduction of the beautiful Helen by Paris of Troy—an event that fulfilled a prophecy. Staged with a humorous touch, the play holds a mirror to the way wars unfold in the modern world.
