Selimağa Fountain

Located in the Çarşı Neighborhood of Tirebolu, the Selimağa Fountain is one of the district's significant historical structures surviving from the Ottoman era. Commissioned by Kethüdazade Emin Ağa on June 10, 1842—according to its inscription—the fountain is known today as the Selimağa Fountain.
Constructed from cut stone with a square plan, the fountain is notable for the pointed-arch niches on two of its facades and its Arabic inscription carved in marble. While this structure once met the water needs of the local population, it also reflects the tradition of philanthropy characteristic of the Ottoman period. As you embark on a historical journey through the streets of Tirebolu, you can visit the Selimağa Fountain to examine its stonework up close and gain a deeper appreciation of the district's cultural heritage.
