Hattusa

Hattusa, located in the Boğazkale district of Çorum, was the capital of the Hittite Empire and is one of Anatolia’s most important archaeological sites. Its temples, royal buildings, fortifications and monumental gates reveal the advanced urban planning and architecture of the Hittite civilization. The Lion Gate, King’s Gate and Sphinx Gate are among the most remarkable structures of the ancient city.

Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986, Hattusa offers visitors the opportunity to explore the remains of an ancient capital in an impressive open-air setting. With its vast archaeological landscape, monumental walls and surrounding scenery, it is one of the most significant historical attractions in Çorum.
