Gevher Nesibe Museum

Welcome to the Gevher Nesibe Mausoleum, located within the Gevher Nesibe Complex, one of Kayseri's most important historical legacies. The mausoleum commemorates Gevher Nesibe Sultan, daughter of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Kılıç Arslan II. According to legend, Gevher Nesibe Sultan bequeathed the construction of a health facility where people could find healing during her illness; consequently, her brother, Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev I, had the Gevher Nesibe Darüşşifa (hospital) built in 1206. The Darüşşifa, along with a medical madrasa (school) later added alongside it, became one of the most important Seljuk health and education centers in Anatolia. The mausoleum, bearing the traces of simple yet impressive Seljuk stone architecture, houses the tomb of Gevher Nesibe Sultan. Today, while visiting this historical site, you can witness not only the memory of a Seljuk princess, but also an important legacy of the medical, educational, and healing culture that flourished in Anatolia centuries ago.
