Hunat Hatun Mosque and Complex

Welcome to the Hunat Hatun Mosque and Complex, located in the historical center of Kayseri. One of the most important works of the Anatolian Seljuk period, the complex was built in the 13th century by Mahperi Hunat Hatun, the wife of Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and mother of Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II. The complex, comprising a mosque, madrasa (religious school), hammam (bathhouse), and mausoleum, is an important center that carries the social and cultural life of the Seljuk period to the present day. The monumental main gates of the mosque, in particular, are noteworthy for their stonework adorned with geometric and floral motifs. The mausoleum within the complex houses the sarcophagus of Hunat Hatun. For centuries, the Hunat Hatun Complex has been an important part of Kayseri's urban life, and today it largely preserves its historical texture and function.
